Keith is a fan of antiqued brass-shell snare drums, and Gretsch artisans at the Ridgeland, South Carolina, factory developed a unique aging compound to create the drum’s stunning 5.5-inch x 14-inch, 2mm Vintage Patina brass shell.To increase dynamics and pitch range, Keith specified a standard Permatone batter head and 20-strand snare wire instead of 42-strand. Additional features include 45° bearing edges, 4mm die-cast hoops, and Gretsch’s classic Lightning throw off.
