Ergodyne ProFlex 9002 Certified Anti-Vibration Work Glove, X-Large, Black
$ 19.05
After being disappointed with another glove (the Youngstown AVXT Performance Glove) for use with my lawn equipment (leaf blower, string trimmer, and lawnmower), I purchased the ProFlex 9002 Anti-Vibration gloves, and am quite pleased with their performance.The test-wear was using a notoriously jarring Ryobi string trimmer that with the AVXTs had me tossing the thing to the ground in disgust after about 30 seconds of use. The vibration with the AVXTs was extremely irritating and what I’d measure as an 8 or 9 out of 10 on the “irritation scale.” With the 9002 gloves the vibration is significantly reduced. It’s still there, about a 2 or 3 compared to the AVXTs. These gloves let me do about 20 minutes of string trimming (I’m a wimpy girly-girl so 20 minutes is a LOT) before my arms simply got too tired to continue. I have compromised nerves anyway, and end up with problems from vibration that can have me numb or in pain (or both) for weeks, so I was most pleased with the 9002s – no persistent residual vibration effects after the 20 minute session.One down side to the 9002s is that because of the robust anti-vibration padding material there is somewhat-reduced manual dexterity. The AVXTs are winners if a) you need the manual dexterity, b) your equipment has effective vibration-reducing features and c) you don’t have nerve problems. However, the 9002s are a much better choice for most yard tool applications, and if you are looking for a great pair of gloves to wear while running any equipment that does not require a great deal of manual dexterity. Pushing buttons and holding levers down isn’t a problem, but gripping small controls would be.I’ll wager that as the gloves are broken in the manual dexterity issues will decrease, and possibly also the effectiveness of the anti-vibration padding… and will report back if that happens. For now, I give these gloves a resounding, well-padded thumbs-up.
