Pump arrived JUST in time to help out my new neighbor with a small, 3-foot deep pond that had been sitting full since the last owners left 4 months ago under a tarp added for safety.Was impressed with the fit and finish of this pump – beyond just the shiny metal exterior (which really does look sharp, by the way). No sharp edges, no unmatched joints with the other metal parts – clearly this was built well and to last. The 16-foot cable is hard-wired and waterproofed. The package included a decent set of plastic adapters, one of which connected nicely to a 75-foot garden hose we had available. It even included a piece of nylon rope we could use to lower the pump to the bottom of the pond instead of just dropping it in and lowering it using the power cord. (This is a nice addition.)Once in the pond – WOW. This thing can move some water. Even having to go out across the lawn, over a 3-foot fence and into a storm drain, it made quick work of the water in the pond, as well as algae and general yuck in the long-ignored water. After dealing with sump pumps which were fidgety to use and clogged easily in the past, this one is really impressive. The stainless exterior also made it easy to wash off with a rag and water to look shiny and new.A couple of SMALL issues -The 16 foot cable is a little short for a pump like this, which may need to operate away from an outlet – but it worked ok with a heavy-gauge extension cord. You just need to tie the extension cord off to make sure the weight of the pump doesn’t pull the connection underwater. I’d prefer metal adapters in place of the plastic ones and may try to swap that out before I need to use the pump again.But overall? This is a great pump that will meet most needs for moving water around when you need to. The metal housing helps with durability, but the motor inside has plenty of power and the design of the bottom of the pump lets you get down to only an inch or so of water on a flat bottom. I highly recommend it for general and emergency use around the house.
