When the silverware arrived today in a padded plastic Amazon envelope, one of the sharp serrated knives was protruding from the packaging. I respectfully suggest that out of an abundance of caution, the package and contents be handled with caution on arrival.Both the table knives and the steak knives are fairly sharp tipped and both are serrated and sharp.The steak knife blades were covered with lightweight cardboard sleeves. The serrated place knives were not. They were enclosed in thin plastic and shipped loose in the box.It was one of these place knives that had, in transit, cut through the very thin plastic covering it and both pierced the cardboard box (leaving plastic protruding through the largest hole, and it eventually worked its way through a narrow opening in the cardboard.See photoI ordered these for picnicking and camping; specifically to go with enamelware dishes I also bought at Amazon. I wanted something that looked a bit nicer than the (perfectly serviceable) plastic handled flatware that came with the enamelware.Both the enamelware and the new flatware (and the old) can be used for many years; with proper treatment possibly for generations.They have the advantage of being environmentally friendly. Using these, I don’t use disposable plates, cups, bowls, or plastic flatware. I like this very much.The silverware is acceptable. It is not particularly high quality but given the low price it is a good value. I think everyone can accommodate the very small 3-tined salad forks and small rather flat-bowled teaspoons that are more suited for stirring than eating but will accommodate children fairly well. Both are suitable for small bites of desserts which arguably should be savored anyway.All’s well that ends well and on the whole, given the price (less than a dollar per piece) I consider these a good value and am pleased with them.
