Highest pitch for bass II is C above the halfway harmonic on the G string. Highest pitch for bass III is E a minor third below the halfway harmonic on the G string. Basses I, II and III must have some knowledge of tenor clef. Different voices are brought into the foreground at different times, but range designations remain pretty consistent. Melodic material shifts from voice to voice.
